This isn’t some buried footnote from 2019. Microsoft quietly updated these terms last fall, right as enterprises were being sold on Copilot subscriptions at $30 per user per month. The timing is spectacular in the worst possible way.
The Legal Cover-Your-Ass Masterclass
Let’s be clear about what’s happening here. Microsoft spent billions acquiring OpenAI technology, rebranded it as Copilot, integrated it into products used by millions of businesses, and then slapped an “entertainment only” label on it like it’s a carnival fortune teller.
